As safe as hydrogen peroxide is for clothes, basically, there are just some fibers that hydrogen peroxide might stain. Consequently, synthetic fibers don’t react very well with hydrogen peroxide and often result in a yellow tinge or stain.

Evidently, hydrogen peroxide is one of those household products that so many of us have in our bathroom cupboards, but few of us actually know what to do with it. It has so many amazing uses but since this is a site about clothing care I will try to stay on topic.

Here is a great article to read about other uses around the home.

  • Soak a cloth in the cleaning solution, then wring out some of the liquid.
  • Further, clean furniture by rubbing gently in a circular motion, soaking the cloth every so often as needed. Most important,  you don’t want to soak your fabric, but you do want to get enough of the solution on the surface to clean.
  • Allow the furniture to air dry.
  • Definitely, repeat as needed.
  • For stubborn stains, make a paste of baking soda and water and rub gently over the area. Repeat steps 1-4 to wash off the paste.
  • My chair’s fabric is 100% polyester, and this method worked well.  I encourage you to test this method out on a small, inconspicuous area before continuing.
