How to get sweat stains out of linen fabric?

How to take care of linen and do it right?

One of the biggest challenges with linen is getting rid of sweat stains. The best way to remove a sweat stain is to pre-treat it with a stain remover. My go to stain remover  is always hydrogen peroxide. Some people say it will lighten any fabric but that has not been the case with me. I have not tried it on dark colors. Pour or spray the hydrogen peroxide onto the stain and allow it to soak in. If the color or the armpits look yellow let it sit for 10 minutes before washing.

To spot treat, I also like stain bars. Fels Naptha bar is so cheap and effective I cannot believe it.

How to Use Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar as a Stain Remover

  1. Wet the Laundry Bar. Dampen the laundry bar and rub it directly onto the stained area of the clothing.
  2. Wash as Usual. Wash the garment as usual by hand or in the washer with a gentle detergent.

After soaking for 10 minutes if it still looks yellow you will need to bring out the diluted bleach.

What is better linen or cotton?

Linen is just as easy to look after as cotton, but it is more durable and gets better with each wash, unlike cotton which can become threadbare as the fibres are weakened. Linen uses less resources in its production, so it is also a more eco-friendly, sustainable fabric.

If you want a fabric that is a bit easier to care for and warmer, softer, and more affordable, then cotton is the better choice.
If you want a more breathable, lightweight, and moisture-wicking fabric, then linen is the better choice, although it is more expensive and harder to care for.
Linen is a stronger fabric, it will last longer. While cotton bedding and pillows feel smooth when new, they can lose their softness and begin to disintegrate with repeated use and washing. Linen, however, actually gets softer over time and improves as it ages.
